Tales of the indefinite shelf life of the Twinkie have been highly exaggerated. Twinkies actually only have a shelf life of 25 days, according to the Hostess Company, maker of the sweet treat. The cakes last much longer than the average baked good only because they do not contain dairy ingredients.

I love to take photos of food. I still have a paper I wrote in the sixth grade about wanting to be a food stylist when I grew up. It is rare for the food in my own kitchen to escape my camera – but what about food in restaurants? Many foodies (myself included) already consider food to be a multimedia experience. We blog about it, tweet about it, email our friends about it and post our meals on Facebook.

If you’re like me, you have plenty of well-meaning friends and family members who grace your inbox with all the latest rumors, hoaxes and urban legends you can stand.
One particularly disturbing e-mail I received recently claims that baby carrots are soaked in “deadly carcinogenic chlorine” which causes a white chalky film to form when the carrots are left exposed to air or chilled in the refrigerator for awhile.
